Schwarzschild black hole with a luminous accretion disk, rendered by geodesic ray tracing
This program renders the view near a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a luminous accretion disk. Light rays are traced as geodesics of the Schwarzschild spacetime using RK4 numerical integration of the effective potential equations, producing physically accurate gravitational lensing, photon orbits, and the characteristic shadow of the event horizon. The accretion disk emits light volumetrically with color and intensity varying by radius and angle, and a background star field is gravitationally lensed behind the black hole.
