Vibration modes of a circular drum, given by Bessel function eigenmodes $J_m(\alpha_{mn}r)
The eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a disk with Dirichlet boundary conditions are products of Bessel functions Jm(αmnr) and trigonometric functions cos(mθ) or sin(mθ), where αmn is a zero of Jm. This program visualizes these eigenfunctions as the vibration modes of a circular drum, with height and color encoding the displacement of the membrane.
