The Gaussian curvature of a surface is the product of its principal curvatures, and by Gauss’s Theorema Egregium it depends only on the intrinsic metric. This calculator lets you enter a surface as a height function z=f(x,y) and computes the Gaussian curvature at each point, color-coding the surface to show regions of positive, negative, and zero curvature. Parameters a,b,c are adjustable via sliders.
