Spherical harmonics $Y_{\ell m}$ displayed as vibrating spheres, modulus plots, and polar plots
The spherical harmonics Yℓm are the eigenfunctions of the Laplace operator on the round 2-sphere, parameterized by degree ℓ and order m. This program plots them in three ways: as a vibrating sphere (perturbing the radius by εsin(λt)Yℓm), as a modulus plot (∣Yℓm∣ plotted radially), and as a polar plot (Yℓm plotted radially). Sliders control ℓ and m to explore the full family.
