Null geodesic threading between two extremally charged black holes in a Majumdar-Papapetrou spacetime
The Majumdar-Papapetrou solution to the Einstein-Maxwell equations describes a collection of extremally charged black holes (M=∣Q∣) in electrostatic equilibrium. Here two such black holes are shown, and a light ray from a distant source passes through the system, either escaping to infinity or falling into one of the horizons. The trajectory is computed by numerically integrating the null geodesic equations of the Majumdar-Papapetrou metric ds2=−U−2dt2+U2(dx2+dy2+dz2), where U=1+∑Mi/∣x−xi∣.
