A basic test of the spring-and-charge simulation framework on a square grid mesh. The mesh starts with vertices on a flat square lattice and evolves under two competing forces: springs along each edge try to maintain target edge lengths encoding the flat metric ds2=dx2+dy2, while Coulomb-like repulsive charges between nearby vertices prevent the mesh from collapsing.
This serves as a development tool and baseline for the more complex embedding simulations of hyperbolic and toroidal surfaces. Parameters for spring stiffness and charge strength are adjustable via the GUI.
